Job Opportunity: Primary Prevention Educator Rape Recovery Center

Job Description: The mission of the Rape Recovery Center is to empower those victimized by sexual violence through advocacy, crisis intervention, and therapy and to educate the community about the cause, impact, and prevention of sexual violence. The Primary Prevention Educator will provide culturally relevant educational workshops focused on primary prevention of sexual assault, healthy relationships and empowerment. They will work to facilitate community partnerships with designated groups and work towards the overall goal of decreasing sexual assault in Salt Lake County, with a special focus on reaching underserved populations in the LGBTQ+ community. This person will also coordinate the Rape Recovery Center’s Teen Advocacy Network.  

Outreach and Access Coordinator. All Primary Prevention Educator activities shall observe the Rape Recovery Center employee policies and procedures.

Represent the Rape Recovery Center with a professional image and manner. Show confidence in knowledge base, people skills, and competency.
Work to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors for youth and their parent(s)/caregivers that are part of the LGBTQ+ community by attending monthly programming meetings, teaching primary prevention curriculum materials and creating empowerment based events and opportunities in collaboration with community partners.
Create, facilitate and organize monthly Teen Advocacy Network meetings. 
Distribute primary prevention information about services at outreach events.
Assist with primary prevention workshops at Salt Lake County Schools, partner organizations and community events. 
Meet for weekly supervision.
Ensure adherence to all contract goals and objectives detailed in grants.

Applicants should have strong facilitation and public speaking skills. 
Applicant should have a degree related to the human services, communication or other relevant fields, OR at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of practical and academic experience.
