Job Opportunity: Bilingual Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Rape Recovery Center

Salary: $16.00-$18.00 hourly DOE

Job Description: The mission of the Rape Recovery Center is to empower those victimized by sexual violence through advocacy, crisis intervention, and therapy and to educate the community about the cause, impact, and prevention of sexual violence. Our philosophy is that every person victimized by sexual violence is treated with dignity and respect and is empowered to work toward recovery.

The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate will provide direct services to survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, short-term structured coping skill development, and support groups. Candidate must have experience working with a varied clientele in both English and Spanish. This job requires a person who is task oriented, has excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working with a diverse staff and volunteer team. 

Advocacy Coordinator  

Represent the Rape Recovery Center with a professional image and manner. Show confidence in knowledge base, people skills, and competency.
Build collaborative relationships with staff and volunteers as well as members of the community.
Attend staff meetings, advocacy team meetings, and monthly Spanish-speaking providers meeting.

Provide victim advocacy and referral services to survivors of sexual violence in both English and Spanish.
Provide short-term coping skills counseling to survivors aimed at improving their knowledge of post-traumatic stress symptoms and coping strategies to mitigate the impact of these symptoms. 
Co-facilitate support groups for survivors, as well as occasional topical workshops. 
Answer crisis-calls and provide crisis intervention and referrals over the phone.  

Applicant must be fluent in both Spanish and English (no exceptions).
Applicant should have a bachelor’s degree related to the human services field, OR at least 5 years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of practical and academic experience.

40-hour state mandated crisis counselor certification
Innovative, collaborative, and self-directed
Outstanding communication skills, including: writing, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and listening
Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suites
Ability to work well with—and inspire confidence in—volunteers and clients
Excellence in balancing multiple responsibilities 
Organized and detail oriented 
Understanding of micro, mezzo and macro systems and their impact on survivors

Experience with case management, crisis advocacy, working with vulnerable populations (LGBTQI+, Homeless, Pacific Islanders, American Indian/Native American, undocumented immigrants)

This is a full-time, benefited, 32-hours per week position. The remuneration for this position is based on sexual assault advocacy experience. Hourly rate of $16.00-$18.00 dependent on experience, opportunity for dollar increase is available per 90-day evaluation.
