  government affairs
 

The mission of the government affairs committee is to seek justice for victims of sexual violence and improve the quality of life of the citizens of the State of Utah through review of proposed legislation, and by educating legislators to protect victims of sexual violence, including children, and to hold offenders accountable.

The committee develops a legislative information alert weekly during the general legislative session for broad distribution, select members to meet with and testify at legislative committee hearings, collaborate with allies to educate legislators and public about sexual violence related bills, and works through the Interim Study, following potential bills that could affect the sexual violence response system and identify persons/groups who would be in favor and/or against bills the organization supports.

The mission of the public affairs committee is to support sexual violence awareness and prevention through the creation of instruments to leverage media contacts to create awareness and cultural change within community and raise awareness about UCASA as a resource in the State of Utah.

The committee expands sexual violence outreach and public awareness, fosters alliances and collaboration, collects and responds to sexual violence related articles from across the state, develops press releases and generates radio, television, and print coverage around sexual violence issues, develops public service announcements and campaigns for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and provides assistance in preparation of annual the annual sexual assault awareness month (SAAM) event.

The mission of the fundraising committee is to plan and implement the organization's fundraising program; to lead the Board's participation in resource development and fundraising; and to familiarize other board members with fundraising skills.

The committee partners with other committees to identify targeted program or events for sponsorship, and works to secure funding needed.

   
  nominating committee
 

The mission of the nominating committee is to build an effective and diverse board and educate board members about their governance role.

This committee nominates future board members. This committee evaluates the board's composition, identifies needs, and compiles a list of people who fit those needs and who can assist in the achievement of the organization's strategic plan. The committee should have a broad knowledge of the community to reach out to appropriate people to fill board positions. This committee is also responsible for engaging, educating, and evaluating board members as well as orienting new board members and ensuring that they understand the key roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards.
